Working hard to

support a thriving

Tiger Nation

Priorities

Continued advocacy for fair and full public school funding

I believe that equity begins with economics. I have a track record of working and advocating for our district to be fully funded - a primary step to building equity in our schools. Public tax dollars belong in public schools.

Consistent, effective communication with families

One of the most important things that a district can do to strengthen the relationship with families is take the guesswork out of communication. This means parents know where to go with questions and how they can expect to be communicated with from the district; both for good news or when issues arise.

A renewed focus on K-8 students and their families

My daughter is a 6th grader at Monticello and attended Noble Elementary, K-5. I bring a current parent’s perspective to issues concerning younger students in the district and their families.

Increase student enrollment in Heights schools

We need to continue to promote our schools to everyone in the community - but especially to prospective families via ChooseHeights.org, direct marketing, school tours, and open houses.

Support equitable public education for all of Tiger Nation

Public is for all, and I will work to ensure our district works for all students, especially kids and families from historically marginalized groups.

Support the current CHUH Strategic Plan

The district is currently operating under a strategic plan that runs through 2026. I will work with staff and administration to ensure that decisions are being made according to the goals in that plan

Meet Phil

I grew up in Northeast Ohio in a big family; I am the oldest of six kids. I am the product of public education, attending public schools K-12 and then getting my Bachelor of Education from Kent State University. After college I spent over a decade working for local social service non-profits and now work as a Data Scientist at a large telecom company.

I moved to Cleveland Heights in 2008, buying a house in the Noble neighborhood - just a block from Noble Elementary, which my daughter attended K-5. She starts at Monticello Middle this school year. Over the years I’ve spent time plenty of time in PTA meetings, volunteering in my kid’s classroom, marching in homecoming parades, working on levy campaigns, and riding the bus to field trips. Our family owes a lot to Tiger Nation, as we’ve received a lot of support navigating the ups and downs that accompany raising a family. Serving on the Board of Education is one of the ways that I can give something back.

I look forward to seeing you around town or at a Heights football game, school literacy night, or other district event!
